Socks in Shops

Yesterday, I went to Marks and Spencer to buy a Christmas sweater for my other half and noticed that they were selling slipper socks. They were in a nice lacey pattern but cost more than my current price of £7.50 for handmade slipper socks. This made me realise that actually it's perfectly possible to knit a pair of slipper socks for less than you can buy them in the shops - and they can be made to fit your size exactly and in the colour you want.

Also, as the M&S socks were made in China - home-made versions have a much smaller 'carbon footprint' - especially if you buy wool manufactured in the UK!

So, do your bit for the environment - knit your own socks.
